ENDERBY SC
AUTUMN LEAGUE 2008 CHAMPIONS

Enderby Outclass Penguins To Win Autumn league Final

Enderby Swimming Club’s head coach Martin Thompson, had his team focused on the task ahead when they took on the likes of Kettering, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, Burton, Leicester Penguins, Shepshed and Braunstone in the Leicestershire Autumn League Division 2 Final  at Braunstone Pool on Saturday night.

No one team came just to make up the numbers; every team had earned the right to be there. The first 8 events where the freestyle relays, the honours going to Penguins and Enderby, four individual events later and it was Penguins who had taken an early lead over Enderby by three points with Market Harborough and Braunstone not far behind.

However at the halfway stage and after some really hard fought events it was Enderby who had taken the lead from Penguins by 14 points. The third stage of the gala was even more exciting with both Penguins and Enderby still going head to head but being split in some events by one or more of the other teams. Braunstone were in third place, Kettering, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, and Shepshed where all within 5 points of each other,  however with 12 events left Enderby had increased there lead over Penguins by 243 to 219 a lead that they where determined not to loose. As the gala came to a close the final 8 events were the medley relays, the events that Enderby had been waiting for, they won 6 of the 8 events in convincing style going on to win the gala and being crowned Leicestershire Autumn League Champions 2008.

We are extremely proud of all our swimmers, for all your hard work in training and the way in which you conducted yourselves at the meet. Well done to all the coaches for the endless hours which you put into training. To all the mums and dad who could hardly talk afterwards. To all of you that did jobs around the pool to help the meet run like clockwork.  It is also nice to be able to say that every swimmer in the team is a product of our own club's  recruiting and training program; it would be unfair to highlight any one swimmer, you went as a team, swam as a team, and you won as a team.

Lets carry this on into 2009.

Final Points:
Enderby 319
Penguins 298
Braunstone 235
Shepshed 193
Melton Mowbray185
Market Harborough177
Kettering169
