Leicestershire County Age Groups 2010 (LASAs)
|
The
Leicestershire County Age Group Championships (LASAs) are a series of galas held over three weekends in February/March and
open to all Leicestershire Club swimmers who meet the qualifying times. This year 34 Enderby SC swimmers took
part in 16 events racing a combined distance of more than 22 miles, that is further than racing from the Braunstone
pool to Loughborough University pool and back (as the crow flies)! All our swimmers performed excellently swimming really
well and gaining good personal best times. For the first time this year, LASA held relay events, again Enderby shone
with the 13/14 yrs girls (H Bartlette, K Bartlette, M Johnson & A Loomes) coming 1st in the Medley and 2nd in the Freestyle
relays. Individually our swimmers gained a number of accolades. B Chadwick broke the 800m freestyle County Record,
that had stood for 10 years, by 8 seconds and is the Junior County Champion in the 100m, 200m, 400m & 800m freestyle.
Having gained 8 Midland Qualifying Times (MQTs), he is now working towards his National Qualifying Times (NQTs). L Thickpenny
swam 3.00.09 in the 200m Breaststroke which is 8 seconds under the NQT and, as far as we can tell, is the fastest 11 yr boy
200m breastroke swim in the England this year; he also gained 5 MQTs and came 2nd overall in the 11 yr boys BagCats.
D Platts came 1st in the 9 yr girls BagCats swimming a MQT in the 200m backstroke. MQTs were also gained by M.
Fairhurst (5), F Willett (5), J Willett (4), M Johnson (2), K Bartlette (1), H Bartlette (1) and P Stone (1).
The
BagCats (British Age Group Category) points are used to rank young swimmers up to 13 yrs girls and 14 yrs boys over a number
of events. Each swimmer is awarded points based on their age and time swum then the best score in each category of event
is totalled to give an overall ranking within the County. Again this year our young swimmers have gained good
top 10 placings in the BagCats. For the 9 yrs girls D Platts 1st, H White 5th and T Vyas (our youngest entry who only
turned 9 yrs in February) came a commendable 6th place. For the 11 yrs girls A Hassell 5th, M fairhurst 6th and J Willett
8th. For the 11 yrs boys L Thickpenny 2nd, J Bell 7th with G Bell 9th in the 12 yrs boys.
Over the 34 events
Enderby Swimmers won a total of 20 Gold Medals- D Platts(4), L Thickpenny(2),H White(1), B Chadwick (7), K Bartlette (2),
H Bartlette (1), M Johnson (2), M Bonken(1); 22 Silver Medals - J Willett (2), M Johnson (3), H Bartlette (1), K Bartlette
(3), F Willett (2), D Platts (3), H White (1), L Thickpenny (2), B Chadwick (2), M Bonken (1), A Maddison (1), J Bonken (1);
15 Bronze Medals – M Johnson (3), H Bartlette (2), F Willett (4), A Loomes (2), B Chadwick (1), M Bonken (1), M Fairhurst
(1), A Hassell (1).
All our swimmers performed brilliantly – you are a credit to yourselves, your families and your club.

Enderby
SC Swimmer Awarded Full County Badge
|
|
In January Molly Johnson received her Full County Badge, meaning she has now represented Leicestershire on six separate occasions. To be selected, you have to be the fastest available swimmer
for your event in the County. As there are, on average, only three opportunities a year to be picked, this is a huge
achievement and, we believe, a first for an Enderby SC swimmer. ! Congratulations Molly !
